More than 100 bodies have signed up to the Chartered Institute of Housing’s (CIH) ‘Make a Stand’ pledge to tackle domestic abuse in social housing. The century was reached in the campaign’s first two weeks.
Organisations which have signed up to date collectively own and manage 1.2 million homes, around a quarter of all social housing in the UK.
Organisations supporting ‘Make a Stand’ commit themselves to;
• Embed a policy which supports residents experiencing domestic abuse.
• Make information about support services readily accessible to residents and staff.
• Have a procedure to support employees experiencing domestic abuse.
• Appoint a champion in the organisation to support people suffering domestic abuse.
The CIH’s campaign is run in partnership with the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance and Women’s Aid.
