The Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) is urging organisations working in the housing sector to sign up to the Make a Stand supporters’ pledge to help tackle domestic abuse.
The campaign is targeted at those associated with the housing sector, but do not provide homes, such as contractors, suppliers, trade bodies and membership organisations.
The new pledge is an expansion of CIH’s Make a Stand campaign geared towards the social housing sector and launched last year. More than 320 housing providers have signed up to date.
Meanwhile, Sandwell Council in the Midlands is the first employer to endorse the GMB union’s domestic abuse charter introduced late last year. The charter calls on employers to support employees experiencing domestic abuse, ensure they will not be disadvantaged at work and supported with access to services and information required.
