[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Katie Ghose is leaving her role as chief executive of Women’s Aid after a video emerged of her praising Ukip’s “passion for a new way of doing politics” and lauding the party’s then leader Nigel Farage.
Her departure from the domestic violence organisation follows complaints by black and minority ethnic women’s refuges about her public praise for the UK Independence Party (Ukip) in 2015 when she was chief executive of the Electoral Reform Society.
Though Ghose was acting in her capacity with the society, her comments had “overstepped the mark” and “flies in the face of her position at Women’s Aid,” the Guardian newspaper quoted Aaliyah Davis of the direct-action group Sisters Uncut as saying.
In a statement, Women’s Aid said Ghose was leaving by mutual agreement with the charity’s board and thanked her for the “huge amount” she has achieved while with the organisation.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
