UK’s first hub for women DV victims opens

UK’s first hub for women DV victims opens

The inaugural ‘Ending Violence Against Women and Girls Hub’ in the UK has opened in Accrington, Lancashire.

The aim is to create a one-stop-shop where specialists and services are all in one place, so victims do not have to be “bounced from pillar to post” and referred to different centres, said CEO Debbie Fawcett.
“Anyone who has experienced sexual or domestic violence can come and the relevant staff will meet them there,” she was quoted as saying by the This is Lancashire news portal.
She added there is a “huge need” for such a hub as recent statistics show a doubling of domestic abuse incidents being reported to the police locally.
