Police officers across London arrested 1,504 people and issued 560 charges related to domestic abuse, stalking, rape, harassment and other offences in 16 days of action to tackle domestic abuse and violence.
They also issued 165 cautions and 87 restrictive orders plus handled 62 Clare’s Law applications.
The outcome was an amplification of what goes on throughout the year to arrest perpetrators and protect victims of domestic abuse, the Metropolitan police force said.
Detective Superintendent Matt Pilch, the Met’s lead responsible officer for domestic abuse, added the work will continue, such as through training sessions for officers and by adopting the Domestic Abuse Matters cultural change programme with support from SafeLives.
The 16 days of action between 25 November and 10 December coincided with a United Nations’ campaign to tackle violence against women and girls.
