Operation Encompass wins a top award

The King’s Award for Voluntary Service is to be given to Operation Encompass in recognition of its efforts to counter an aspect of domestic abuse.

Founded in 2011 by former police sergeant David Carney-Haworth and his wife Elisabeth, a head teacher, the scheme enables police forces to alert schools by 9am about domestic abuse incidents the night before which may affect their pupils.

The King’s Award is highest honour a voluntary group can receive in the UK. It will be presented to the Carney-Haworths in the coming months.
