Thirty-two domestic abusers are serving a combined 215 years in prison following investigations led by Police Scotland\u2019s Domestic Abuse Task Force since 1 April. Individual sentences range from 18 months to 15 years.<\/p>\n

\u201cBehind the numbers are victims who have lived in fear and with the trauma of domestic abuse, sometimes for many years, before reporting either directly to the police or to one of our partner agencies,\u201d said detective chief superintendent Sam Faulds, head of Police Scotland\u2019s public protection unit.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd what the figures don\u2019t show is the number children who witness domestic abuse and carry that with them for the rest of their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

The sentencing includes imposition of two orders of life-long restriction, six life-long non-harassment orders (NHO), and other NHOs totalling approximately 250 years.<\/p>\n

The release of the statistics and detective chief superintendent Faulds\u2019 comments accompanied Police Scotland launching a domestic abuse prevention campaign, \u2018IsThatMe?\u2019 aimed at men aged 18 to 25 years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
