Wiltshire constabulary has commissioned an urgent review into how it handled Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme requests for eight years.<\/p>\n

A staff member is under Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) investigation into how they dealt with the Clare\u2019s Law applications. The person is currently suspended from Wiltshire Police.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know there have been some failures to disclose information which could have protected those most at risk from domestic violence. For this, I am truly sorry,\u201d said chief constable Catherine Roper.<\/p>\n

The constabulary is auditing the 3,500-plus Clare\u2019s Law applications made from April 2015 to the end of August this year. Disclosures were made in 1,195 cases.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere we feel there is any risk to any individual, we will be attempting to contact the applicants,\u201d said Roper, who added: \u201cWe have put more scrutiny in place than we\u2019ve ever had in this area of our business.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
