NHS to boost support for abuse survivors in England

The National Health Service in England is adding to specialist services for victims of domestic violence or sexual assault, especially those with complex, trauma-related mental health needs.

The NHS is appointing two clinical leads, providing dedicated domestic violence support and launching a campaign to raise awareness of the help available.

Backers include former Prime Minister Theresa May who said: “Sadly incidents of domestic abuse and sexual assault increased during lockdown and the extra funding for services for victims of abuse and sexual violence is much needed.”

The extra services and associated awareness campaign have £20m of funding for three years.
