Camilla visits hospital’s domestic abuse service

In her first solo engagement as Queen Consort, Camilla met independent domestic violence advisors (IDVAs) and maternity staff working in the domestic abuse field at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

The hospital’s management trust has what it describes as a whole health approach to domestic abuse by working with acute health, mental health, primary care and local domestic abuse services.

Camilla has vowed to continue her work raising awareness of domestic abuse as Queen Consort.

She is patron of SafeLives whose chief executive Suzanne Jacob was quoted by the Evening Standard as saying: “People watch these royal visits so carefully and take a lot of symbolism from them and making a choice like that is an extraordinary vote of confidence in how she feels about those individuals and the need for them to be safe.”
